Specific Need

Mission

The mission of the Goodland Public Library is to provide educational, informational and recreational materials, programs and services to all members of the community.

Profile

1. Assemble, organize, preserve and make available materials necessary to meet the needs of all patrons.
   1. Work to maintain or increase funding for the library.
   2. Complete conversion of microfilm to CD-ROM.
   3. Continue to apply for available library grants.
2. To serve the community as a reference and information center.
3. To provide the popular reading titles needed by library patrons.
4. To provide the children and young adults of the community with access to wide range of materials and programs.
   1. Continue to support the summer reading program and pre-school story hour program for children.
   2. Encourage use of the library by young adults.
5. To make available library materials in a variety of formats to better meet the needs of patrons.
   1. Work to maintain and update the library computer network.
   2. Continue to add materials in a variety of formats (large-print, digitally, video, online, etc.)
6. To keep the community aware of the library materials, services and programs available.
   1. Publicize library services and programs in the local newspaper and on the local radio station as well as Facebook.
   2. Conduct a community survey concerning library needs.
7. To cooperate fully with the Kansas State Library and the Northwest Kansas Library System.
   1. Encourage library staff to attend continuing education programs offered by the State Library and the Northwest Kansas Library System.
   2. Encourage board members to attend trustee workshops.
8. To support the Library Bill of Rights and the Freedom to Read Statement from the American Library Association.
